I'm Matt. Here's my '81. Got suckered into buying it as part of a deal for a friend to get parts. 227,000 miles and a few minor mechanical issues for $300. Not bad, but it will get better over time.

Nice car, looks well for the mileage. My first prelude did 210'k before it rotted away, if it wasn't for rust I reckon it would have gone on for ever! Are the wheels mugen? I've got mugens on mine too. Do you plan on keeping it?

I'm actually gettting more into classic Hondas now, so I'm going to keep it and restore it. The wheels are Mugen MR5's, but they didn't come with the car. I bought those for my Integra and thought they would look good on the Prelude.

Well it is true that the wheels will fit much better other cars.
I did not notice at first but you have the original JDM loudspeakers at the rear side of the car. That is great 8-)
Will you put back the original steering wheel and front seats ?

There are you Matt! Was wondering when you were going to join!

For everyone else, Matt is one of my close friends and we live but a few miles away from each other. Hopefully soon in the future his '81 and my '80 will be sporting the 1st gens at local car shows and maybe even the website here!

Dude, list out what's been done to the car or what you plan on doing to it!

Nathan! Calm down! I'm not as obsessed with these cars as you are! Stop ending everything with exclamation points!!!

I don't plan on going crazy with mods on this car. Here are a few things I want to do:

-Swap in CRX seats and get rid of the horrid racing seats.
-Webber carburetor setup, cuz mine's running really rich and don't want to rebuild it.
-Swap in other transmission I have with new clutch. Current tranny has no 5th gear.
-Some nice old school wheels, Watanabe style. Probably Konig Rewinds in 14 inch.
-Repaint it.
-Learn to drive it, cuz I'm rubbish at stick shift.

More pics will come as soon as I get to work on it.

Just finished lowering it. We cut the stock springs and took about 2.75" off the front and 1.25" off the back. It rides really well. Thanks to Mitchn for the help. Took a few shots with his for comparison.

Waouhh Waouhh Nice photos !

I have to say with JDM fender mirror, it looks terrible !
Also with original wheels with center caps and steel rims it looks nicer.

How did you paint it ? spray bottles ?
And most of all : was it easy to drill the fenders so to mount the fender mirrors ?
Have you drilled while the fender still on the car ?
--> I want to do that also on my Black G1. I have nice civic JDM fender mirrors which looks like the same with my door mirror. So I intend to have 4 mirrors (door + fender)

Good job, looking good, mirrors look great and I do like those wheels, very nice! I think they really suit the car.
