I'm looking forward to being a part of this group, although I wonder if I have missed the boat. There's not many new posts so I hope some of you are still active.

Mine is a base model 1981. It's blue with tan interior. I purchased it about a week ago and I couldn't be more excited. But this isn't my first 1981 Prelude. I had one when I was 16 as my first car... 26 years ago... So I feel this is a little extra special to me.

The highlights of advertisement for the car when I bought it stated:
• Rare one owner 52k miles Honda Prelude, 5 speed... unique factory, radio delete, no factory a/c.
• Older gentleman purchased new in '81 here in town, this car has not seen 75mph... runs perfect and quiet... no mechanical issues.
• Owner had company car and only drove on weekends.

I was so excited, I bought it pretty much site unseen.

First things on my list I'd like to add/update on this car:
• Decent seat covers
• add A/C... please say this is possible. My wife and kids would greatly appreciate this.
• install Radio/speakers
• 15" Rims/Tires
• Headlights - sooo, so dim

Eventual list of items:
• New Paint
• Fender Mirrors(?)... On the fence with this, so let's talk!
• Suspension
• Brakes

All these things I want to do I'm having to research, so please if you have any suggestions from good seat covers to brakes... I'd so appreciate it. This forum has helped a lot so far.

I'm not mechanically inclined so much. I replaced a few things on my original Prelude, so I'm looking forward to doing more myself.

Very nice project. Unfortunately, this site is not very active. We have a much more active page on Facebook, if you have an account. Join and share. https://www.facebook.com/groups/240194252820794/

Welcome to the forums coldhands! 8-)

Wow, what a great looking find, congrats on the new purchase. I'd highly recommend sourcing ebay, craigslist, facebook groups and thisoldhonda.org for parts needed. Luckily there are decent amount of parts you can find on rockauto for basic maintenance including suspension/engine parts. The EK engines are known to run long if they were well maintained and it appears this is a shining example with that low of mileage.

Matt is right, check out the more active facebook page and hopefully you can catch us if something comes up.
